R&K Murphy Enterprises Ltd was formed in 1978 by Roland and Kenny Murphy as a seafood wholesaler. In the early 1980’s Roland purchased the remaining shares and became the majority shareholder.

Currently the company is owned and operated by Roland and Tyler Murphy. It has over 10 subsidiary companies and deals with various ocean products such as tuna, swordfish, halibut, haddock, cod, herring, mackerel, squid, crab and lobsters. Three of its subsidiary companies are processors and have the ability to guarantee the best quality product since it buys direct and can process its own live product.

One company is a distributor of live and frozen fish in Toronto. The others are a mixture of live product wholesale, fishing vessel operation and license holdings. The total of these companies have sales around the globe in excess of 25 million dollars per year and volumes of products that can satisfy even the largest market.

Looking forward the company is constantly growing with new processes such as a new marinated herring division and an introduction of lobster lounges in many cities in Canada.
